FANFIC: ONE DAY IN SEPTEMBER (J x INORAN)

Author Notes: At first, I want to make this as Inoran's birthday fic, but actually the story happened just two days before his birthday. So, this is this year Inoran's birthday fic. Also, this is the story about Lunacy, before they get famous and I made this when I got a flu xD anyway, like usual, review will be gladly accepted. please enjoy this fic, and happy birthday to Inoran!!!

ONE DAY IN SEPTEMBER

Inoran sigh. This job sometimes making him frustrated. If its not because he must pay for his music instrument gears, he'll surely quit from this boring job.

"Watch your steps, boy! You'll be drown if you move further," a middle-aged man who is also his co-workers remind him.

Inoran nods and walks carefully. Measuring is a boring job for some people, but the salary is enough for him. That's why whatever happens, he will try to bear the tension of this job. Besides, compares to what Jun must do, this is still nothing.

Inoran sigh again. Today is not a good day for him. He must do the measuring again and that means he must go further into the cold river again. This is actually the part that he dislike, because the cold water almost make him feels numb on his legs.

Well, he got no choice. He must do it and be more careful now, so he could finished today's task and go home. But as he finally finished the measuring, he accidentally slipped and that makes him almost drown into the deeper part of the river. He struggles to get himself back to the shallow side of the river. Luckily, his co-worker helps him but nevertheless Ino already get wet from head to toe.

The good thing is finally he can go home after this because his job is done for now. So he could rest his tired body for a while. He barely have time to eat when he leaves in the morning and now the cold wind makes him shivers. He hopes he won't catch a cold.

"You almost drown again?" J asks when he meets Ino in their band's rehearsal place.

Ino nods.

"You should learn how to swim now," J grins, "do you want me to teach you?"

"No. As soon as I get another high salary job, I'll quit this job." Ino drag a cigarette, but before he managed to put it on his lips, he sneezes. Not just once but several times.

J quickly undo his jacket and wraps Ino's body with that.

"Wait here, I'll get you something warm," J then walks away from Ino.

Ino just stay silent. He touch the jacket and close his eyes. It's as if he can still feel J's warmth and J's scent around his body. He feels so relax now. J doesn't realize that he loves him and Ino won't tell him about his true feeling because he thinks that he will ruin this friendship bonds that they have now. So all he can do now is just treasuring every moment where he can be together with J. Both of them are getting busy with their own job and the rehearsal is the only thing that could make them meet each other.

"You're alone?" Sugizo's voice makes him open his eyes again.

"No, J already came but he's out to get something," Ino explains.

"Oh, I thought you're the first to came here," Sugi put his guitar. "Hey, do you have any plans for your birthday?"

Ino shake his head, "in fact I didn't realize that until now. My job makes me almost forgot about my birthday."

"I know a good place to eat and drink to celebrate your birthday," Shinya suddenly joins them.

"Really?"

"Leave that to me, okay?" Shinya smiles.

"Don't forget to invite Jun," Sugi grins.

"Of course," Ino smiles. It will be great to have J on his birthday, because he is the only one that he needs right now. Usually J is too busy with his own things that he almost forgot about his birthday. Ino can't blame J, because he knows that J work hard so that he could afford enough money to buy his own music gear and everything he needs.

"Oh, you guys already here," J walks slowly approaching Ino and gives him a warm cup of tea. "Let's start the rehearsal after this."

Ryuichi finally comes, just when Ino finished his tea. And so their rehearsal begin.

Seems like the cold is worser than he thought. He still have to work these days and that means he must entered the cold river again.  But after today's rehearsal, he's sneezing all the time and start to cough.

After the rehearsal done, he decided to take a brief rest on the sofa in their rehearsal place.

"Eat this first before you take the medicine," J offers him a warm chicken soup. J decided to take Ino to his place that located quite near to the rehearsal place, because his face looks pale.

"Thanks," Ino received the soup and starts to eat. He stops for a while when J put his hand on his forehead. "You got a fever," he said with a worried expression.

"I'm alright," Ino moves J's hand away from his forehead. "I still have to do something after this."

"You have to rest!"

"Jun, its gonna be okay, I'm gonna take a rest in my home."

"It's almost midnight," J still trying to persuade Ino.

Ino sigh. Seems like he have no other choice. Besides, it's an opportunity to spend the night with J like he have been dreaming of before.

Ino finally said, "alright, I'll stay for the night."

J grins and lifts up Ino's body.

"Hey?! What are you......"

"You should just rest in my bedroom," J insists. He takes Ino to his bedroom. Ino feels his cheeks blushed because he never thought that J will do such thing to him. He moves his hand slowly and holds on to J's strong shoulder. He just staring at the strong bassist.

J puts him on his bed, but Ino wraps his arms around J's neck and makes J landed on top of Ino's body. J just smiles. Now they are closer enough so that Ino could feel J's breath on his face.

"Ino....."

This is it. This is the time. He is ready to receive his kiss.

"Ino............"

Why don't J just do it now? His heart beat so fast now.

"Hey.. Ino...."

Ino open up his eyes.

"Finally you are awake," J said.

Ino blinks several times. He is still on the old sofa in their rehearsal place. Seems like he's falling asleep while he's trying to relax himself after the rehearsal.

"You want to stay here tonight?" J asks with a grin.

Ino still blinks his eyes, especially because of the dream that he had before. "Eh...... No..... I'm gonna prepare my stuff now," Ino awkwardly trying to avoid J. But apparently J already notice the blush on Ino's face.

"Hey," J holds Ino's shoulder. "Your face is red. Did you get a fever?"

By the time J touches his forehead, Ino blushed even more.

"I... I'm alright. I'm gonna stay in my house tonight." Ino busily putting his stuff in his bag.

"But seems like you get a fever. Why don't you stay at my place for a while?" J takes his bass and his bag.

"No... It's okay," Ino quickly wear his backpack and walks away.

"Wait, you forgot your guitar!" J picks up Ino's guitar. "Seems like you need more rest. Also, I got something for you. Why don't you stay at my place tonight?"

Ino stops for a while. He must make sure that this is not a dream. J's offers is so tempting.

Well, it's now or never. Maybe everything will be like in his dream. And even though it won't be the same as in his dream, at least he could spend a night with J.

"Sorry it's still a mess," J said as Ino enters his room in that apartment building. Lots of papers, books and dvds scattered on the table in the living room.

"It's okay." Ino sits on the couch after putting his guitar and his bag. He starts to feel dizzy, but he tries his best to not showing it in front of J. "So, what is it that you want to show me?"

"Here," J shows him a couple of dvd. It's a collection of a western's band rare dvds. "I managed to get it. If you want, you can watch it first."

"Wow, thanks. I've been searching for this too ever since in high school." Ino takes those dvds.

"I know, it's very hard to get it," J grins happily then walks to the kitchen area to make a warm drink for Ino.

Ino stands up, staring at everything around him. It's the first time he come here, and it's actually not too different from J's room in J's parents' house. He doesn't realize that J is standing behind him until he turns his head and notice how close they are, he can even feel his breath.

"Ino..." J said, he looks worry, but Ino just stand still, staring at J without saying a word and suddenly collapsed.

There's something cold on his head and he doesn't know what that is until he open his eyes.

Ino touch his head and notice there's a cold and wet hand-towel on his forehead. He still feels a little bit dizzy, but it's better than before.

"Hi," J greets him.

"Hi, Junjun," Ino replies lightly and then he realized something. "Why are you in my room now?" He asks with confusion.

"You're the one who's in my room now, Ino. You had a fever. I was about to offered you a medicine before you suddenly passed out."

Ino still holds the wet hand-towel on his forehead while staring at the scenery around him. It's J's bedroom indeed.

"Do you feel better now?" J asks.

"I think so," Ino is about to get up and sit just in time when J wants to help him by rearranging the pillow, thus makes Ino accidentally hit J's head.

"Ouch, I'm sorry," Ino rubs his forehead.

"It's okay." J still grins and rubs his forehead too.

Hmmm, at least this isn't a dream, Ino thought. J really here in front of him. But somehow there's a nervous feeling inside of him. If he said that he likes him now, would he accept it? Or maybe he think that he's out of his mind?

"Jun.... I...." Now, Ino's heart beat faster than before. The nervous feeling starts to engulfed him.

J stares at him with a questioning look on his face.

"I..... I think......."

"What?"

"I need a drink."

Dammit, why he can't just said it directly to him! Ino cursed himself as the most stupid person in Japan as he see J walks outside from the room.

Geez!

He needs to calm down. He needs to try to be like usual in front of him. It's only Jun. The same Jun Onose that he used to play with, used to talk to, used to see almost everyday in school. It's the same Jun Onose, for God's sake! But why is it so hard to say this to him?

"Here," J handed the glass of water to Ino.

"Thanks," Ino accept it, though he drinks the water slowly. His mind still thinking about how he could tell him about his feeling.

"Ino."

Ino doesn't respond. He still holding the glass and drink although no water left inside the glass.

"The glass is already empty," J almost laughing.

"Ah, yes," Ino awkwardly smiles at his stupidity.

"Is there something that's been bothering you?" J asks while staring directly to Ino's eyes.

"No.. Nothing.. I just...." Now he felt that nervous again. Come on, it's now or never, it's a perfect chance to say it. "I.... like......" His fingers taps the edge of the glass, another sign that showing how nervous he is right now. "Su... Sugizo composed a great song yesterday, don't you think?" Damn... This is not what he's supposed to say!

"Oh, yeah, it was a great song. Maybe we can used that as our next demo song." J said, he grab the glass from Ino's hand and put it on the small table. "What do you think about my song?"

"That's a great song too. Its worth to be put in the demo tape too. Hopefully it will attract a producer and our band will get into a label, then we can create more songs and getting more fans......" Ino stops talking as he feels J's hand touching his face.

"What are you trying to say? Just tell me," J said while staring directly to his eyes.

"I..... I like....."

The sound of J's phone disturb the moment. J sigh then walks outside from the bedroom to receive the call while Ino let out another sigh. Why is it really hard to just say that he likes J? Or maybe today is not the best time to say it? Should he keep this feeling forever? Besides it might be ridiculous for J if he knew that his best friend is falling deeply in love with him.

Ino leans on the pillow and stares at something on J's nightstand. There's a picture of them that J put on a frame. That picture was taken when they were still in the first grade of high school. That time J put his arm on Ino's shoulder and Ino did the same thing too.

Ino unconsciously smiles. That time they were still so young and Ino didn't realized that he will fall in love with J like this. J always gave him his attention, making him relieved and happy, as he couldn't get enough attention in his home because his parents were busy with his younger brothers. He began to understand J and that made him always following J, even when J decided to not entered a college, Ino did that too, and that made his parents mad at him. They even said that J only bring bad influence to him.

"Feeling better now?" J's voice makes him surprised.

"Oh.... Yeah... I think so."

"You better sleep here tonight, I'm gonna get you a medicine." J come closer for a while, touching Ino's forehead. His temperature is still high.

"Jun," Ino hold J's hand.

"Is there anything else that you want?" J asks.

Ino wants to say 'stay here' but the words that comes out from his mouth is "thank you".

J smiles, "no worries man, we're friends, right? And it will never change. Now, you should take the medicine, then go to sleep."

But Ino still hold J's hand without saying anything. "Jun..... I...."

J stares at Ino with a questioning look. "What?"

"I....... Love......" Oh no, why is his head feels so dizzy right now? He must finished this words. He must said it to J. Come on, Inoran, it's now or never!

"You."

J still stares at him with a confused look. "What do you mean?"

"I love you," he finally said it and he feels like his face is blushing. "I... I'm sorry, I just need to tell you that.... But you don't have to do anything... I mean, I just want you to know about my feeling... It doesn't mean that I expect you to change our relationship... You know... I don't want...." Ino's words cut off when J touch his lips with his own lips.

Although he always dream to have a kiss from J, but this is really unexpected. He isn't ready at first, but J's kiss is so gentle and romantic, so he tries to relax and enjoy the taste of his lips, though it makes him blushing even more than before.

J slowly end the kiss, staring at Ino and let out a smile. "Nothing will change, right? We're still be the best friends forever."

Ino nods. "But if you don't like me.... You're free to do anything, even leaving me..."

"Don't be silly," J laugh. "Isn't that already enough to prove...." J put his hand on Ino's head, "that I don't want to lose you."

Ino finally smiles.

"But if that doesn't enough....," J slowly push Ino's body to lay on the bed, "I'm free to do anything, right?" J kiss Ino's lips again, this time with more passion and entwined their fingers.

Inoran tighten his jacket and grab his guitar. He still got a slight fever but his condition is better than before.

"If you don't feel well, just take a rest for a while," Sugizo said before they started their rehearsal.

"No, it's fine. I already take enough rest," Ino adjusting his guitar.

"It's kinda rare that Jun is this late," Ryuichi commented while staring at the clock. Already fifteen minutes after their appointed time for rehearsal. Usually J is very punctual about time.

Shinya already sit behind his drum set and twisting the stick several times, he's already getting bored waiting for their leader.

"Sorry guys, I'm late," J finally arrived, with jacket while his mouth and nose covered by a mask. He quickly stand in his position and adjusting the bass.

"This fuckin *sneeze* cold is killin' *sneeze* me!" J commented between his sneezing.

"Wait, are you catch a cold too?" Sugizo looks confused.

"Yeah, I just can't *sneeze* stand it *sneeze*" J takes a glance at Ino who already take a seat.

"If I knew that I will get this *sneeze* I wouldn't do it!" J mumbled.

Ino suddenly sneezes too.

Sugi, Shinya and Ryu just stares at the twinbee.

"Both of you should just go home and take a rest," Sugizo unplugged the cable from his guitar.

"Yeah, do that before you guys infected me with cold." Ryu already take a few steps away from them, "I still need to take care of my precious voice."

"Well.... Take enough rest." Shinya smiles to J and Ino before taking a few steps away when suddenly he sneezes too.

"Stay away from me Shinya-kun!" Ryuichi quickly walk away.

J just stares at Ino who just shrug his shoulder then smiles at J. At least now one burden in his heart already lifted and now he know that no matter what happened, J will always be his friend, the only difference is that now they're not only just friends but lovers.

"Do you think you can be cured if we did something like........ last night?" Ino put his guitar back on its case. His face blushed a little.  

"Dunno. Wanna try?" J release the mask for a while then approaching Ino. "You should be responsible..." He tilted his head forward, intending to kiss Ino. But just when their lips is about to touch, Ino push him away and sneezing.

"You guys really need to take medicine and rest instead of fucking," Sugizo commented after he realized that the twinbee failed to notice that he's still there. He rub his nose for a while before walking away. Then he sneeze.

"After your birthday party, how about spending another night together again?" J said.

"That would be great," Ino smiles.

Finally, J and Ino leave the studio, both wearing the bass and guitar on their shoulder, with a joined hands.
